Whatcha Working on Wednesday

In honor of Leslie over at My Country Home, I am happily getting to participate in Whatcha Working on Wednesday! I have been showing my Spring makeovers throughout the house in my last post so I don't have too many changes today.
I have recently finished this cute little basket of eggs.

I found this bird nest basket at a yard sale a few years ago and just pulled it out of the storage building. It is now part of my table centerpiece.

I heard my hubby and son in his bedroom banging and pounding, so I had to go check it out. My son is big into skateboarding and has been wanting to hang some of his old skateboard decks on his wall. Of course, the bottoms have to show. This is where the graphics once were but have been scraped and scratched off with the "grinding" of rails and stairs. (Didn't I sound like I knew what I was talking about there?)
Apparently, the hubby is still in a home improvement mood so tonight the two of them finally hung the boards in my son's room.

Doesn't look much like art work to me but, hey, my son likes it and is proud of the condition of these boards! He usually gets a new one for his birthday and Christmas so he has been holding on to these for a while so that he could display them.

My daughter has been waiting for this day for a while now! Her class ring finally came in and she picked it up at school today. The picture isn't that great but she was so proud to show it off!

She picked a silver ring with some sort of purple stone. She had me write her name in cursive on the form so that my handwriting was on the inside of her ring. I thought that was so sweet! It is hard to believe how fast they are growing up! She is currently in Drivers Ed and has recently been getting letters from Colleges and Universities! I can't believe it! We are in the process of planning her Sweet 16 party already. Her birthday isn't until June but we are trying to do a little each week so that we are not crazed at the last minute - although I am sure we will be!

Hi Nicole,
What a cute nest with the eggs in it!
It's amazing how fast our children grow up. I still find it hard to believe that we are empty nesters. Sometimes it seems like yesterday that were little ones.

OH.. the eggs are sooo cute and I love the nest basket. Thank you for the comment on my blog about my bunny cutting board.. if I can do it.. you can too.. lol. I am all thumbs. I wish I had thought to put up my sons skateboards when he was younger.. now he's 22 and I get a pleasant smile and the slight nod at my suggestions about anything.. lol.

Nicole, my daughter just got her class ring as well and she chose the silver tone, too. I think that is SOOOO SWEET that your daughter had you sign the inside for her! :) I have to giggle at your name because my hubby uses that term when he talks about his childhood and things his dad used to do. LOL I have 3 girls and no boys, and find the skateboard idea really neat! I LOVE the basket you have your pretty prim eggs in... what a find! I love baskets and have many, TOO MANY Longaberger baskets that I collected over the years, but love all styles of baskets. Thank you for popping in on my blog. You are so sweet and you always make me smile :) xox Carla

Hi Nicole, I really love the skateboards on the wall! It's his personality for sure.

Your daughters ring will still mean so much to her as years go on I'm sure

LOVE your photo of the building. My daughter is especially enamored of old barns (she's a senior in HS) and likes to photograph them.

Enjoyed your site and my 13-yr-old son would think the bottom of those decks is one of the TRUEST art forms, though he wouldn't come close to being as proficient at creating them as your son. Take care and blessings to you!

Very cute! And I like the skateboards too! A lot of people hang them on their walls or put them on shelves mto enjoy the artwork on them. Not something I would do in my home, unless it was for a child, but I still appreciate the art form. I think ti's great that your son can have them in his room to enjoy.
And congrats on your DD getting her class ring. I rememebr thsoe days well! I thought the last 2 years of school were going to break us! LOL! Our kids do seem to grow up so fast!
Have a nice weekend!
